May 10One of the things I had to do recently was tally up my failures. It was a fun experience; it was similar to the kind of fun you experience when scratching blackboards. It’s funny but in doing this, I realized I’ve never took the time to look back and understand what made me fail.
I’ve always had the uncanny ability to pick myself up and keep going. In fact, I assumed a person gained strength from moving on and moving through obstacles. It takes a strong soul to focus on resolution and not wallow on negative events. It took training and discipline to be this person, and this frame of thinking is incredibly helpful when dealing with startups that have 80% problems and 20% success.
But seeking resolution without first reflecting on the problem is like fishing without bait. You continue to throw your line into the water and pray it will be different this time. You have to figure out why the fish weren’t biting in the first place. Maybe it was the wrong bait. Maybe there really aren’t any fish there to begin with. The point is you can’t continue to throw yourself out there without first understanding what went wrong your first, second and fortieth time.
(Remind me never to use a fishing analogy again. Not a big fan, but it served its purpose. I hope!)

May 10I had an awesome opportunity to speak at the Year End Reception for the UC Berkeley Alumni Association on behalf of my scholarship. Feel free to check it out below.

Apr 10Had a conversation with my mom last night about the traits of successful people. We came to the conclusion that being nice won’t help you find success.

Apr 10Sorry about not posting, but got excited about doing a video on work/life balance this morning. This is not a GenJuice post, but I talk a little about it. Check it out to find out how a reformed workaholic achieved a glow without special lotions or tanning (not that I would need that at all… I digress.)

Feb 10Earlier this year, I brought a small group of driven young people together from different backgrounds, different industries and with different goals. We started off just talking about our personal brands, but it’s slowly changing into a way for us to support each other getting to where we’d like to go. This group is now called GenJuice. GenJuice meetups are ongoing get-togethers of young driven people helping each other reach specific professional goals.
.
In this video, I introduce the concept of GenJuice and give a brief teaser of the GenJuice tour.

Feb 10I’ve been moving around a ton these past few weeks and I thought what would be better than to do a quick photo update. So professionally, I had the opportunity to check out both the Intel Youth Summit and Teens in Tech Conference. Make sure you check out the video of Gen Y Perceptions of Intel.

Random I also realized I never put photos of myself on my blog. So hey, here are some fun ones. No no… my blog has not turned for the worst. Real content will be available soon — including some video coverage of the Teens in Tech Conference.

Btw, and this is super random but I love this funny t shirt brand and this funny t shirt blog.

Feb 10I was so lovingly invited to the HQ of Intel to learn more about their new products, meet with other powerful young people and most importantly learn what the hell it is Intel does.
.
To say thank you for my contributions they gave me the Dell Netbook with Intel Atom microprocessor I’m using now along with a great dinner/hotel stay in the San Clara Marriott. Thanks Intel!
..
Below is a video of all of the attendees giving their thoughts on the company.
.
.
The key takeaway is we all were interested to learn more about Intel after the Youth Summit. Not only that, we were all excited to talk about our experience at Intel. How can your brand do something similar to achieve word of mouth success amongst youth? I have a few ideas!

Jan 10.
Had the opportunity to meet up with some great friends of mine and a debate broke out over that oh-so-popular movie I’ve never seen. I decided to film their thoughts and post it up to show conflicting opinions on the movie of the year, Avatar.
.
So, what do two Gen Yer’s think of the movie? Listen in.

What do you think? Amanda or Jabari? Avatar = CGI Porn or Just Plain Boring?
